Our Kindergarten Studio is for children who are 4 to 5 years old.
For children aged 4 to 5 years in an early childhood education and care setting, the following theorists and theories align with their developmental levels:
1. Lev Vygotsky: Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory is relevant as children in this age group continue to learn through interactions with peers and adults, engaging in cooperative play, and developing language skills.
2. Jean Piaget: Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, focusing on the preoperational stage, applies as children aged 4 to 5 engage in symbolic play, develop a better understanding of cause and effect, and start to solve problems using logic.
3. Howard Gardner: Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences suggests that children in this age group may exhibit a range of different intelligences, such as linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic, which can inform teaching strategies and activities in the early childhood setting.
These theorists and theories offer valuable insights into the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children aged 4 to 5 years in an early childhood education and care environment.
