Concept of family connection
The relationship and the understandings we have of each family is significantly important in our commitment in ensuring children are nurtured in environments that will support them in their development. A high-quality partnership with a family is about listening, in order to understand family perspectives, support family aspirations and plan for equitable outcomes. (NQF, standard 6.1, element 6.1.2)
At Ashton’s Place Immersive Learners we achieve this through the meaningful exchange of communication between family and the service. (NQF, standard 6.1, element 6.1.1 & 6.2.2)
The following practical concepts of practice ensure our family connection:
- Intentionally planned opportunities for children to share and have their voice heard (NQF, element 6.2.2)
- sharing with family ideas on what the child is focused on at home and in the service (NQF, element 6.2.1)
- family feedback sourced every six to eight weeks through various forums (NQF, element 6.1.2)
- minimum of weekly communication with families on educational focus and outcomes (NQF, element 6.1.3)
- daily communication offered to families on child routines and interactions (NQF, element 6.1.3)
- family support in educational approaches, including 3a strategies and resources. (NQF, element 6.2.2)
